Frozen Dinners - What's The Verdict?
      #69148 - 05/14/08 10:12 AM

My boys had a new experience yesterday - frozen dinners - you know, TV dinners. I think they might have had a Kid’s Cuisine a couple years ago, but they aren’t a regular thing around here. Well… Banquet meals were on a huge sale and I caved in and bought a few. Last night hubby was gone, so I pulled them out and made them for the boys for dinner. They were so excited. LOL I’m tellling you, if they wouldn’t have watched me make them and I had taken all the food out of the plastic tray and put it on a regular plate, they wouldn’t have eaten more than a couple bites. But because of the novelty of it…. Yup they all pretty much ate the entire thing. LOL

So how about you? Do you ever fix frozen dinners? If so, frequently or periodically? I know when I worked full-time I used to love Marie Callendars frozen Chicken Pot Pies, and I ate my fair share of Weight Watchers Frozen Meals as well.

My kids love the Banquet meals, probably because they're something we only have once in a blue moon. I like them from time to time for easy lunches when I'm busy or when we don't have leftover for dh to take to work. But, you can't beat the taste of something homemade. I think they go over because of the novelty, not because they're super spectacular.

We rarely do them here BUT it is quite a novelty when we do. Marie Callendars is WONDERFUL but the calories.. EEK!! Hence why they are amazing! If you want something wonderful, that is the way to do but do NOT look at the label DO NOT, hahaha! You will enjoy it way more :)

We eat alot of frozzen dinners. Useualy i take a lean cuisen or healthy choice meal to work for lunch. My hunny likes the stoffers. They have pretty good chicken strips and anything Marie Calenders or Claim Jumpers is yummy but packed with calories. Ooh and the family size from stofers has good lasagna and enchiladas that are perfect for a quick fix for unexpected company.

Lately my freezer has been packed with Healthy Choice. I get Marie Calenders as well. I miss the mac and cheese they use to make.

Frozen dinners were rare at our house when my boys were growing up but they were fast and easy sometimes. The boys also ate them since it was a novelty for them. I usually let them pick which one they wanted so that too was rare. lol I don't even have any in the house now- Greg's not a frozen dinner kind of guy. Sometimes tho, I really wish he were! lol
