What do you guys think? I'll be jumping in to give my opinion. 
My step daughter has been telling me that her mom won't let her watch the movie "Juno" because she'll [the mother] thinks that she [my step daughter] will have too many questions to ask after she watches it. This was late at night and I got the feeling that she was hinting to try and get me to have 'the sex talk' with her. How would someone else breach this kind of situation? I want to educate her in the right way so she does not become one of these young mothers. My mother never had a sex conversation with me and I know that I dove into that world very early. I was, how the saying goes, 'going in blind'. I dont want to have to sit with her father and explain to him that his daughter is pregnant. [she's only ten btw] Studies have shown that the sexual interaction between kids is starting younger and younger.

I loved the movie Juno. I watched it with my girls ages 14 and 16. I have always been one of those open and honest moms, there is not a question I wouldnt answer. I would rather they learn about it from me than the other 14 yo down the street...lol
I am going to be 40 in two months and I cant remember EVER talking to my mom about anything.

Oh my god i cant imagine getting pregnent on purpose! I am 25 and still feel like a kid sometimes. I would love to have kids one day but when you are that young you still change so much as a person. I think communication is important too.My mom was always realy open and it made all the difference to me and i love her for it.

I just wish to be that open with her. How did any of you guys approach the subject of sex? Did she initiate it or did you? I'm terrified that as soon as I say 'sex' she'll shut up.
You are very right cupcakecuttie! Young women do not have the mental mindset to raise children.

Hi Mrs Thorn.
My kids are 27 and 29 now..When they were younger (and even today ) I was always open and honest w/ them..When they asked a question I never gave out more info than their little minds could handle at that perticular time....

Pretty scary... you just never know what kids are thinking.. They just don't realize the impact of having a child, not only initially , but for a lifetime. Having children is a wonderful thing but for teens? I wonder who will be really raising all of those babies! I know quite a few moms raising grandchildren.. I pray to never be in that position... but I do see many women ending up taking over when the novelty wears off for the children.

 Soo True...these girls today think its a babydoll and the grandparents end up w/ the baby..I'll admit I was a teen mom but I was 18 not 15 and 16 like these girls today..and it WAS HARD they think its all fun and games

Well Kudos to you for working hard and pulling through... My mom was also a teen mom ( starting at age 16!) and had four of us and managed but her life was no picnic due to poor choices early on :( Fortunately we all turned out wonderfully because she was a great mom despite the challenges. It CAN be done and many teen moms are successful but still a hard road to walk I am sure. :(

It is hard..my mom had 4 as well (the first one at age 18) dad was in and out of the picture and we all turned out ok...the world is just so diffrent from when we were coming up ya know?

I agree that most teens aren't ready for the responsibility that comes along with children. I don't know that you're ever fully ready, but when you're a little older you at least have the maturity to be able to handle whatever life may throw at you along with the kids. (I was still a "young" mother at 22.)
So often these teens think that everyone else will take care of them - welfare and food stamps, grandparents tend the kids, etc. While it's great for families to be supportive of each other, it doesn't help the teens learn and really pay the price for their poor choices.

was a 24 year old HOMELESS man!!!

are you kidding me? OH MY GOODNESS! I think i heard that they were just grabbing whoever was willing. And I mean they must have done this for MONTHS to concieve. It took me 6 months...so where were the parents this whole time?

Don't you know, teens only ever try it once and just HAPPEN to get pregnant from that one time. Just ask any teen who gets pregnant. I've never heard of one who admits more than once, at least to their parents.

exactly, but how dumb are these parents to believe that just that one time and they got pregnant. I mean of course there is that SLIM chance that they ovulated and had sex and that mans/boys sperm did find an egg but key word here...SLIM

I've known a few of those "dumb" parents. They honestly believe their child that it was only once. They think their child would never lie to them so if they say it was once that's what they believe. I know of one family that had three different kids all with the "We only did it once" story. They have three illegitimate grandchildren to show for it.

That's exactly why I think you need to be able to trust your children and communicate with them, but you shouldn't just have complete trust in anything they say without verifying it as well. If teens are left unsupervised for long periods of time stuff is likely to happen even if they say "We're not doing anything mom, honest."

Exactly. What I dont understand is, is that us parents were once teenagers...right? I'm pretty sure we were, and I still remember stuff that I did as a teenager, and I BLUSH because I'm so embarrassed by what I did. I'm very ashamed at my behaviour. And I lied to my mom, so how come other moms [and dads] totally throw out any of their expieriences? Why and when did they become idiots?
