Nice article, Helen!!

I joined the local Y today. I checked out a few places here and it was the most reasonable for price and what my daughter, who is almost 11, can also do there. I had to have a place she can go as well since it's just the 2 of us now.

We both have orientation appointments this week, so we will for sure be there at least 3 days! haha.

I'm really excited, actually. I know how much better I feel when I exercise and even tho it's going to be hard since I work full-time (well, more than full time, really) I'm going to figure it out and make it a part of life! I've been off the band wagon mostly for about 6 weeks and I can tell already. I'm ready to feel good again!!!!

My mom clued me in to a website: americaonthemove.org Once you sign up you log your steps or exercise time and try to complete challenges. I'm just starting the equivalent of the Iditarod. Wish me luck!

Hey you guys!

Glad you are getting back on the "wagon" Tammy. You will feel so much better once you find your routine. It's hard to make a move and try to get settled. It will be hard in the beginning, but after a couple of weeks you will fee like your "old" exercising self again.

Thanks for the link, Thimbleluvr. I don't think people realize the value of just MOVING every day. We get so caught up in what we do (or don't do) in the gym that sometimes we fail to realize that just incorporating activities into "real" life will give us a far larger gains.

Take care, girls. Keep me posted. I worked out my upper body just now - haven't done it properly in awhile - they are shaking. :-)

I had my first really good, full workout yesterday, finally! I'd done a little during the past week, but we had a lot of orientation things for my daughter to attend at the gym, so it wasn't the same.

I ran and did some weights and I can feel it today!! :) I actually like feeling a little sore, it reminds me that I've used muscles that hadn't been doing much and it kind of makes me feel 'alive'. It also reminds me to watch what I put into my mouth. haha. Is that odd? haha.

Have a great week everyone. My goal is 5 workouts, which might be hard because I'm going out of town next weekend, but going to do my best!

I've found if I walk the kids to and from school I get an automatic 2 mile walk in! Pushing the stroller ought to count for something in there, too.

Unfortunately the kids are out of school today so I haven't been out walking. But, I've been up and down the stairs all day and unpacked 7 boxes.

Great job Anne! I discovered yesterday that I'm only 6 pounds from my goal weight. Woo hoo! That alone is almost enough motivation to get moving today!

I've found I really struggle when the kids are home from school on weekends. Yesterday they had a teacher work day (why they need it three weeks before school is out is beyond me!) and I had a terrible time incorporating movement into my day. Their whining wears me out!

I've started walking 30 min every day at work with a co-worker! It's a great break from my desk, and if I do nothing else exercise wise in a day, at least I've done SOMETHING! Good motivation having a partner too. :)

I tried jumproping yesterday while Melissa was outside eating her lunch. Only managed about 15 minutes, but together with my two miles of walking kids to and from school it wasn't too bad.

Still going strong here. I'm 5 lbs away from prekiddo weight. Very happy about that!! I workout but I really watch what I eat and portions too.

Lord I'm wasn't 5lbs from pre-kiddo weight when I was 5 minutes pregnant I think! haha. Congrats crazymomma! I have a LONG ways to go to that point.

I am doing good tho. Walking daily for 30 min at work and hitting the gym a few nights also. On nights I don't go to the gym, I've been trying to walk. So I guess I really am walking about an hour a day, which I just realized!

I've also cut out my morning cappuccinos (bad habit!) and replaced it with coffee and these sugar free flavorings I've found! I've also cut out the soda which is touch considering I'm working at pepsi, haha, but drinking lots of water. Hopefully all these small changes will add up to big differences!! :)

Yesterday we went to the school to watch the kids during field day. I had two involved in the morning, then we ate lunch with all four and then two doing the activities in the afternoon. According to my pedometer, I walked just under 12,000 steps or 4.35 miles!! I guess having the kids on opposite ends of the field made for lots of running back and forth!

I'm joining in. Girls I need some help. Dr. gave me the ok to start exercising slowly after being in a serious car accident 2 years ago. He said I can lift weights(dumbells) but no more than 5 lbs, walk( no running, no swimming and going to a gym is out amoung other things due to TBI). I would like to tone up and lose at least 10 pounds to start. It's hard with the TBI since someone has to be with me at all times. If I go fo a walk someone would have to go with me, yesterday I took the dog(mini schnauzer) and one of my teenage sons we went around the block and I was tired from just that. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

If you do walking, start slowly and just enjoy, try to limit hills until your doctor gives you the OK. Sometimes just starting to get exercise can lift your spirits and make you feel better and give you the will power to eat better as well :) Congratulations on getting moving again! It is tough for all of us, especially for someone who has sustained serious injuries!

Like Anne said, start slow and work up to more time/intensity. Around the block is a good place to start. It won't be long before you can handle that and go farther. Do you have a treadmill at home that you could use? If not, just a few "laps" around the house would also work. May not be the most interesting view, but if you're up and moving you're burning calories.

I have been REALLY bad.. but last week I did get back to the gym four times for one hour each and this morning I made it 1 1/2 hours! I can't wait to get back to my 10+ hours a week.. YES I was actually doing that LAST year at this time. It sounds crazy but I felt SO much better when I was exercising every day! Looking forward to feeling great again!
