Gustav is making me sick. They have it coming right towards me skirting the western portion of Terrebonne Parish. It's still far out there, so there is plenty time for it to do what ever it wants and the track is still very uncertain. We ARE preparing to evacuate which I hate doing because it's very frustrating and tiring. I don't want to think of sitting in traffic for 4 hours not going more than a mile.

This will be my last check in until god knows when. I'll should be back in a week depending on how much wind damage and flooding there is. I know the power will be out; no power...no phones line...no internet. Take care everyone!

My family and I are ok. We got back in Wednesday. No damage to my house. Just a few downed trees. No power or water still. We have generator and plenty of gas. It is not as bad as the media is saying. Electricity is already being restored to the Houma area and we should have water by tomorrow hopefully. We cleaned my daughters pool and been using that for bathing and flushing toilets. We are fine so dont worry. I really thanked the telephone guys today because they finally came hook up a generator to the phone exchange to charge the batteries so we can phone service. We hope to have electricity by Monday.
Now I just hope we dont have to evacuate for Ike around Tuesday or Wednesday. The track is going straight towards us again.

It's good to be back. We are camping out at home still. Still no power or water this morning.
We did have a foot of water in our shed under my house which was gone by the time we got home but water is still in the back yard. (My house is 10ft up.) They are slowly pumping it out but it stinks. We might be able to do some yard work today.
Ike's track has shifted farther west this morning. I hope it keeps going west. I don't wish it on anyone else but we really can't handle any more.

Still no power or water. Ike will pass right under us with the current track. He can still push us some water if he passes too close.

I'm so aggrevaited today. We still have no power. Finally got water downstairs but not enough pressure to bring it upstairs into the house.
A power truck just turned in my driveway. It looks like they are inspecting the lines. Maybe they will energize the lines soon. I sure hope so.

We finally got power this evening around 6:20. The A/C sure feels good tonight.
Now we have to watch to see if the water will rise with Ike passing south of us. It is already rising on the coast line with the south winds we had today.
We had 4 foot of water under my house when Rita passed in 2005. I hope it's not a repeat.

Well we are now ready for IKE. Everything is on high ground. We are staying home for this one.
We lost power again this morning for about 4 hours. I hope it stays on for a long time before it goes out again.
I may be out for a few days again if we lose power. Our power is so fragile right now. We can't handle another hurricane.

Weather wasn't too bad last night and we still have power. Now we have to wait and see if the water will start rising as Ike goes inland. If the water does come up too high they will turn the power off.

Hey yall, the water started coming up and we lost power on Friday. My husband decided we needed to leave because he left his 18 wheeler at the highway and was scared it would get to the engine because the water came up sooner than we expected. We still aren't allowed to go home yet. Hopefully we will be able to tomorrow. We are staying at a friends house about 10 miles north of us which has higher ground. We got power this afternoon finally. Don't know if we have power at home yet. I'll try to keep yall updated.

It's been a week since the flood and we finally got our phone service back today. Still have a foot of water under my house and in the garage. Been cleaning my moms house the last 4 days which had 10 inches of water. I'm worn out from cleaning that muddy mess.

It rained last night and added to the 9 inches left that we had. I still have about 7 inches of water under my house and in the shed tonight. We can't do any cleaning yet. Hopefully tomorrow the shed will be out of the water.

geeeh, you have been through it! It is amazing how much work it takes to dig yourself out of something like this.. so much damage control, you must be completely exhausted! I hope there is an end in sight so you can get some much needed rest... Hopefully no more rain for awhile!

Actually we could use some rain right now to wash away that nasty smell and muck from the dead grass. I am exhausted but we still have lots of cleaning up to do. The last couple of days we were cleaning and mending fences, cleaning horse stalls and their pasture. My horses are finally home tonight. They have been gone for a month. They don't have any grass to eat tho.

We brought them to a stable 10 miles north of my home for Hurricane Gustav to get them out of the hurricane winds. They couldn't come home afterwards because their fences were messed up. Then here comes Ike. They stayed there because we knew it wouldn't flood where they were.
Things are kind of getting back to normal. I still have debris in the fences to pick up tho. My lake is finally gone. I just wish they would come and pick up the debris on the sides of the road.
